Information pursuant to Article 13 of the General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679

WHAT ARE COOKIES?

Cookies are small text files sent by the websites visited by the user and stored on the user's computer or mobile device, to be later sent back to the same websites during the next visit. Thanks to cookies, the site remembers the user's actions and settings (such as login data, preferred language, font sizes, other display settings, etc.), so these do not need to be entered again when the user revisits the same site or navigates from one page to another on it. Therefore, cookies are used to perform computer authentications, session tracking, and store information regarding the activities of users accessing a site. They may also contain a unique identification code that allows tracking the user's navigation within the site for statistical or advertising purposes. While navigating a site, the user may also receive cookies from sites or web servers different from the one being visited (so-called "third-party cookies"). Certain operations may not be performed without the use of cookies, which in some cases are technically necessary for the site's functionality.

There are different types of cookies, depending on their characteristics and functions, and they can remain on the user's computer or mobile device for different periods of time: so-called session cookies, which are automatically deleted when the browser is closed; and so-called persistent cookies, which remain on the user's device until a predetermined expiration date.

According to current legislation in Italy, the user's explicit consent is not always required for the use of cookies. In particular, "technical" cookies, which are used solely to transmit communication over an electronic communication network, or to the extent strictly necessary to provide a service explicitly requested by the user, do not require such consent. These are, in other words, cookies essential for the functioning of the site or necessary to perform activities requested by the user.

Among the technical cookies that do not require explicit consent for their use, the Italian Data Protection Authority (see Prov. Gen. "Identification of simplified methods for informing and obtaining consent for the use of cookies - May 8, 2014") includes:

  • "analytics cookies" used directly by the site operator to collect information, in aggregate form, about the number of users and how they visit the site;
  • navigation or session cookies (for authentication, making purchases, etc.);
  • functionality cookies, which allow the user to navigate based on selected criteria (e.g., language, selected products for purchase) in order to improve the service provided.

On the other hand, profiling cookies, which are used to create user profiles and send targeted advertising messages based on preferences shown during web navigation, require prior consent from the user.

WHAT TYPES OF COOKIES DO WE USE?
This website does not use profiling cookies.
In particular, this website uses:

  • Technical cookies, i.e., navigation or session cookies, strictly necessary for the functioning of the site or to allow the user to enjoy the contents and services they request.
  • Analytics cookies, which help understand how the site is used by users. These cookies do not collect information about the identity of the user or any personal data. The information is processed in an aggregated and anonymous form.
  • Third-party cookies, which are cookies from websites or web servers different from this website, used for their own purposes.

When visiting a website, users may receive cookies from both the visited site ("first-party") and from sites managed by other organizations ("third-party"). A notable example is the presence of "social plugins" like Facebook, Twitter, Google+. These are parts of the page directly generated by the aforementioned sites and integrated into the page of the hosting site. The most common use of social plugins is for sharing content on social networks.
The presence of these plugins involves the transmission of cookies to and from all sites managed by third parties. The management of information collected by third parties is regulated by their respective privacy policies, which we encourage you to refer to. Among the analytics cookies, we particularly highlight those from Google Analytics, a data analysis service provided by Google Inc. ("Google").
These cookies enable Google Analytics to function and help website operators analyze site activities, such as the number of visitors, browsing criteria, services used, average time spent, and other data that assist Unique Science S.r.l. in improving content usability. If IP anonymization is activated on this website, your IP address will be truncated by Google in the EU member states or other countries that are part of the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be sent to a Google server in the USA and then truncated. IP anonymization is enabled on this website. On behalf of the operator of this website, Google will use this information to analyze your use of the site, compile reports on activities for site operators, and provide other services related to website activities and internet use.
The IP address transmitted by Google in the context of Google Analytics will not be linked to any other data held by Google. You can, in any case, reject the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate setting on your browser; however, please note that this may prevent you from using all the functionalities of this website. You can also prevent Google from collecting data generated by the cookie and related to your use of the website (including your IP address) and prevent Google from processing the data by installing the browser plugin available at the following link: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
